Dr. Jones’ research interests over the past few years at Washington State University fall into five areas which have both applied and basic aspects:
- Integration of biological control into IPM programs in deciduous fruit.
- Determining the population-level mechanisms by which mating disruption acts on target pests and how their behavior is influenced by saturating an area with sex pheromone.
- Spatial distribution and movement patterns of pests and their natural enemies within orchards and between orchards and their surrounding habitats.
- Development of decision support systems and phenology models of pests and their natural enemies to enhance IPM programs in deciduous fruits.
- Development of monitoring systems for natural enemies using semiochemicals.
