Teaching

Dr. Willson is the instructor for the professional communications laboratory course in the first year. She also provides lectures on cardiovascular topics to third year student pharmacists and assists in human patient simulation scenarios in the Applied Patient Care Laboratories. In addition, she serves as a preceptor for acute care fourth year clerkships in the area of internal medicine.

Research interests

Willson’s primary research is related to patient safety, including medication complexity, health literacy and patient communication. Her current research focuses on evaluation medication regimen complexity in order to prevent adverse drug events and use of motivational interviewing skills to improve patient outcomes. She also is a member of the Human Patient Simulation Team.

Clinical work

Willson serves as the pharmacist member of the internal medicine residency team at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Activities are dedicated to inpatient medical care and teaching of medical residents, medical students and student pharmacists.
