About Me

I am originally from Spokane, Washington and graduated from the WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. My primary area of clinical and research interest is the care of patients with diabetes and kidney disease. After being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 25, I immediately took an interest in learning as much as I could about diabetes and its management. I am an active volunteer for several organizations, including the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Association for Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES). In these roles I have had the opportunity to be involved in the development of clinical practice guidelines and educational resources for health care providers and people living with diabetes. Within the college, I teach primarily within the pharmacotherapy course series on topics including diabetes, obesity, and gastrointestinal disorders. I am also active in clinical and translational research projects using large clinical databases and studying multidisciplinary care approaches using pharmacist services to improve care and outcomes in people with diabetes and/or kidney disease.

In my spare time I like to…

I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, including fishing and golfing. My three kids (Haley, Heidi and John) are very active in 4H and a variety of sports which keeps me and my wife (Angie) very busy.

Why WSU?

As a WSU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences alumnus, I always enjoyed the camaraderie and positive environment at WSU. Being a faculty member within the college was a goal of mine shortly after graduation.
