Angela Freeman Shephard

Angie Shephard is the Ag Education and Outreach Coordinator for WSU Extension, San Juan County.  She organizes ag-related seminars, keeps local farmers updated on events and developments in ag, and works on special projects. Angie grew up working on a dryland wheat and pea farm and earned advanced degrees in rangeland management.  She ranched for 12 years in Eastern Oregon and managed the Zumwalt Prairie Preserve for The Nature Conservancy. She also spent 8 years in Alaska working as the grants officer for the Providence Hospital system and served as the Superintendent of the University of Alaska’s Matanuska Experiment Farm. She particularly enjoys connecting people and translating research and technical reports into actionable information for farmers and ranchers. Angie and her family are renovating a small farm on San Juan Island where they raise chickens, pigs, hay and sheep.
